All Ouachita Technical College faculty, associate faculty, and staff may obtain a college e-mail account. This account must be initiated by the individual and is not automatically created. Computer Services will install and configure e-mail clients for College owned computers on campus. Our web based mail is available by directing your browser here http://mail.otcweb.edu. You must know your mail user name and password for access. If you need your password reset or have forgotten your password, contact the Computer Services department at extension 1185 or stop by Room I203 in the east wing of the Arts & Sciences building.
Computer Services also maintains a number of mailing lists that are available for campus use.
SPAM
Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages. This has been a growing problem across the internet and at OTC for a number of years. The college has taken steps to help reduce the amount of spam or "junk e-mail" from arriving at your in box but still some will slip through. If you have not done so already, you should subscribe to your spam folder and move all spam and unsolicited e-mail there. This folder is emptied every day and our system will learn the spam that is deposited there. You should also check this folder periodically to make sure that only unwanted mail is being captured. Prohibited E-mail File Attachments
In an effort to reduce viruses and disruptions to our networks, certain file types are automatically blocked at the mail server. If a message sent to you contains one of these "blocked" file types, you will not receive this e-mail nor receive any notification that this mail has been blocked. The following are the file extensions currently being filtered: .dll .vbs .wsf .vbe .wsh .hta .exe .pif .reg .scr .com .mp3 .shs .bat .lnk .js .asp .zip .cmd .cpl .wmfIf you need to receive one of these file types via e-mail, contact Computer Services and we will assist you.
