Economic Development and Workforce Training Mission
The College mission of College of the Ouachitas as it relates to economic development and workforce training is to be the key provider of services that accomplish the transformation of the region's workforce. College of the Ouachitas can provide the training to upgrade the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary for the current and future workforce. College of the Ouachitas offers a competitive advantage through the Center for Workforce Excellence (CWE). The Center is designed to respond to the needs and provide the support required for local economic development.
College of the Ouachitas Economic Development and Workforce Training Mission is accomplished by implementation of the following principles:
· Leadership - In concert with local business, industry, labor, and government, the College has a leadership and support role. It's leadership position is to bridge the gap that exists between education, economic development, and workforce training.
· Technology - The region, along with business and industry, invests in technology to improve productivity and effectiveness of the workforce. The College serves as a model for the use of technology and is concerned with the transfer and application of this technology to business and industry.
· Teamwork - Coordination of economic development and workforce training is best achieved by team interaction. College of the Ouachitas will work with state and local agencies with a direct goal of bringing in new business and industry.
· Innovation - It is the College's responsibility to take the initiative for constructive change. The Center for Workforce Excellence serves as a creative and innovative arm of the College and, as such, becomes its research and development component.
· Quality - The College is committed to providing quality services. Quality is achieved by creative and consistent management. The College subscribes to the philosophy of constant and continued improvement regardless of the existing level of performance. We will continuously strive to improve services.
· Customer Orientation - The College listens to its customers/constituents and tries to respond quickly and effectively to their needs. The College responds to its customers by listening, detailing what is said, repeating for communication, responding, and then taking action. The College serves as the educational community's quick response team for economic development and workforce educational needs.
