LPN/Paramedic to RN
Associate of Applied Science

Practical Nursing

Associate Degree in Nursing Admissions Policies and Procedures

The Allied Health Science Division offers an LPN/Paramedic to RN Program.  This program is only open to students who are already Licensed Practical Nurses or Paramedics and who have completed all of the 27 hours of general education prerequisites with a grade of “C” or better.  This 12-month program admits students each January and classes are held in the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters.  Classes meet two nights a week, and clinical is on Saturday and Sunday every other week.  Upon completion of this course the individual must apply for licensure and write the National Licensure Exam for RN.  Conviction of certain crimes may make the applicant ineligible to attend certain clinical sites.  Random drug screening may be utilized at any time during the course of the program at the student’s expense.  If any clinical site denies student access for any reason, the student will not be allowed to progress through the program.

PRE-ADMISSION ADVISING
All potential applicants must attend an information meeting prior to submitting an application.  See OTC website (otcweb.edu) for dates and times of meeting.  The purpose of this meeting is to provide you with information about the program. This meeting does not take the place of academic advising for prerequisite courses and registration clearance.  Students taking general education prerequisite courses will be advised by appropriate faculty in the Division of Arts and Sciences.  Please contact A&S Division Chair for advising information.

APPLICATION AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES/DEADLINE
Beginning in May of each year, applications are accepted for the January entering class. New students are admitted each January.  Class size is limited to 30-40, and not all applicants are accepted for admission into the program.  The application processing deadline is the first Friday in September.  Applicants accepted into this program must attend a mandatory orientation session TBA.
